In Swim With Kim, veteran water safety instructor Kim Johnson demonstrates simple techniques to introduce young children to water. Using step-by-step procedures with children of various ages and skill levels, Kim shows adults how they can teach children to: feel more comfortable in the water, learn basic swimming skills, and practice water safety. From singing This is the way we wash our face to blowing bubbles to playing Superman, the video is filled with a variety of teaching tips and activities that make learning water safety fun and effective. Adults will learn how to help young children: overcome their fear of water; jump off the side of the pool; do brief dips under water; open their eyes under water; kick their feet while floating; float on their stomachs and backs; learn beginning swimming strokes; use safety turns; and become water wise. Kim also offers practical ideas for helping the fearful child. Swim With Kim is an excellent resource for teaching children water safety and reducing the risk of accidental death by drowning.
