DESCRIPTION Despite many efforts to alter athletes' and coaches' beliefs about ideal weights in sports, many athletes at all competitive levels continue to rely on unhealthy weight-loss methods. Athletic trainers often are in a position to recognize eating disorders in athletes and to help athletes address this dysfunctional behavior. Assisting Athletes With Disordered Eating focuses on the trainer's role in identification, intervention, education and prevention, and includes effective strategies for day-to-day management of athletes with eating disorders. This comprehensive course covers A<>A* identifying and understanding eating disorders, A<>A* helping the athlete through effective communication and treatment referrals, A<>A* guidelines for effective weight management A<>A* setting up staff education programs Program copy NATA certified members now have a new option for meeting continuing certification requirements--the Professional Achievement Self-Study (PASS) Program. The NATA Research & Education Foundation and Human Kinetics have teamed up to create this series of self-study courses developed specifically for athletic trainers. By successfully completing the exam, you will earn 1 CEU for each estimated 10 hours of study. Each course will vary in CEU credit.
