Thoma, Laurence Chalip Copyright: 1996 Binding: Hardcover Pages: 252 pp. James Thoma is a professor of Sport Management and Chairman of the Department of Physical Education, Health, Sports Medicine, and Sport Management at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, USA. He has worked internationally in sport as an administrator, athletics/track and field coach, and teacher in Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Saudi Arabia. He was national teams coordinator for The Athletics Congress/USA and worked as an administrator with the 1980 United States Olympic track and field team. His coaching duties included the Brunei national team at the 1985 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok and 1986 Asian athletics championships in Jakarta. He has held a faculty position at the United States Sports Academy after being a secondary school mathematics teacher and coaching athletics at The Ohio State University and Otterbein College, Ohio. He has been secretary of the North American Society for Sport Management and is currently on its international committee. Laurence Chalip is a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Business and Hotel management at Griffith University's Gold Coast Campus in Queensland, Australia. He has worked in New Zealand, Korea, Australia, and the USA in sport as an administrator, coach, and researcher. He was a member of the International Anthropology Project at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, and an executive member of the Seoul Organizing Committee for Olympic Cultural Performance and Research. He has held faculty positions at the University of Chicago, the University of Waikato, and the University of Maryland, where he remains an adjunct member of the graduate faculty. He twice served as a lecturer for the International Olympic Academy in Greece.
