Advertising poster, matted and framed
It's ironic how these advertising posters capture an era; just a few years later, after the 1917 Revolution, advertising in Russia would be abolished. If you're the Mom and apple-pie type, you'll love this ad for America's very own Singer Sewing Machine Co. (A). Singer's 1895 ad for pedal-operated treadle machines had Russian housewives in stitches! The rare poster ad for Kalinkin Spirits Factory (B) features a beautiful Russian maiden, outfitted in a traditional Russian folk dress, toasting with a frothy glass of beer. And the Popova Tobacco Factory ad (C) is an early attempt at subliminal advertising (the legs spell out Tabak – tobacco). Exquisite lithography on heavy, "linen" paper. Reprinted in Moscow, exclusively for us. Professionally matted and custom-framed. Please specify poster. (Allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.) An additional $15 will be added to the standard delivery charge on this item. Also Available! Set of three unframed posters. #208410
